Spring is in the air

So Spring is in the air, I feel the cold grip of winter loosening and I couldn’t be happier! The Spring semester is going fast, I can’t believe it’s already March! The semester started with some cool performances, I have posted a video of my performance of the famous Mendez piece, La Virgen de la Macarena, with the NKU 2010 Tri-State Honor Band from this past January. I have some new duties this semester at NKU that have been keeping me busy. I am now the director of the NKU Concert Band and the NKU Trompeterchor, our student resident trumpet ensemble. The Trompeterchor will perform a recital on Sunday, April 11th at NKU. We will also be performing at the Ohio ITG conference (Wright St) on April 17th and on a NKU chamber concert on April 21st. In addition, I have been preparing for my first faculty recital on April 8th.  I recently traveled to Carmel, IN for the first Star United (mini-corps) rehearsal of 2010. It looks like it’s going to be another great year for this ensemble! I have also been keeping my cornet “chops” in shape by playing with the Lexington Brass Band. NABBA (North American Brass Band Association) will be held in Raleigh, NC this year. I will compete in the high brass technical solo competition on Friday, April 16th. I look forward to hearing some great bands and seeing some friends!

As it turns out, I won’t be able to go to NABBA this year. Plans for attending next year have already been made and I will be there for the solo and small ensemble competitions. Good luck to everyone this year, especially Fountain City Brass Band!NABBA
