A few of my favorite things…

So I have recently been very busy with two of my favorite things, namely, brass band and drum corps. I have been preparing for the upcoming UK trip with the Fountain City Brass Band. I also have the honor of being a soloist on tour. I am especially looking forward to Brass in Concert. According to newcastlegateshead.com, “… it is a full day of the highest class brass entertainment, brilliantly compered by Frank Renton (of BBC Radio 2’s Listen to the Band).
This Championship features many of the finest brass bands in the world, each performing their own mini-concert from marches to show tunes to classical overtures, including Grimethorpe Colliery Band, Cory Band, Brighouse and Rastrick Band, Manger Musikklag (Norway), Fairey Band, Leyland, Fountain City Brass Band (USA).
Presented by World of Brass.
Tickets: £25, £20 and £12.
Performances start at 9:30am.

Unfortunately, and ironically, I have yet to catch a brass band concert in Ohio/KY. There are many around me including Ohio Brass Band, Cincinnati Brass Band, Brass Band of Columbus, Central Ohio BB, and Lexington BB just to name a few! I hope to catch a few Christmas concerts later in December.
Some exciting news is that I have accepted a position in the brass staff of the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps for this upcoming season. I will be working next to some people I have known since I was a teenager and whom I have the highest respect. Frank Sullivan and Josh Talbot are the brass caption heads, and I am confident that Blue Stars will go to the next level under their tutelage. I’m looking forward to being a part of that.
